ABOUT
AMAL

It's good to meet you!

Accepting new clients

I see therapy as a collaborative effort between myself and my clients. As a queer black woman, my goal is to provide space for those like me and others who have felt silenced and marginalized a majority of their lives.

I have a passion for working with women of color and LGBTQIA+ identifying folks. If you find yourself experiencing things like depression and anxiety, or low self-esteem/self-concept, I may be a good fit for you. I have past experience working with clients on things like life adjustments (moving, end of a relationship, career change, etc.), grief and loss, day-to-day stressors, and relationship concerns - romantic, platonic, familial, and professional.

I like to take an integrative approach to counseling using person-centered, strength-based, solution-focused, CBT, and mindfulness approaches, but the most important piece in my practice is building an honest and genuine relationship with my clients. I do my best to have social justice and black feminist perspectives throughout my sessions.

I love all things plants and nature, so much so that I am certified in Therapeutic Horticulture - a treatment modality that aims to use plants and nature in a passive and active way to promote mental and physical wellness.

I am also certified in Brainspotting and am open to using it with clients as they please.

If you would like to work together, I would love to hear from you!
